Riken is a tire brand owned by Michelin, but it was originally founded by Riken Gomu Industry (now Okamoto Industries, Inc.) in Japan. Riken began as a physical science and chemical research company in 1917, later diversifying into tire manufacturing. In 1970, Riken merged with Michelin in a joint venture, and Michelin eventually acquired Riken in 1992. Riken tires are known for offering a balance of aesthetics and technology at an affordable price, particularly suitable for European weather conditions.
